Validation of devices : Orange labels

To select and validate the products offered in the catalogue, Orange has defined three different levels of validation, identified by three labels : Orange Assessed, Orange Connected and Orange Approved. These labels are awarded according to precise criteria and guarantee that the products have been tested on Orange networks in Europe.

  • Label "Orange Assessed"

This label is associated to devices checked by Orange but not tested in the laboratories.

Orange makes sure that all documentation related to the device is provided by the manufacturer: CE certificate, technical specifications, user guides, etc.

Orange also performs some end-user tests, for example: connecting the device to the Orange network, check the transfer of data from the device to the data management platform via the Orange network, use different settings / features of the device, visualise results of collected data, etc.

The brand and name /model of the device is checked by Orange, while the version of hardware and firmware is not specified in the assessment.

Some modules deployed in large numbers over Orange networks (data coming from networks' reports) but not tested in labs are also included in the catalogue as Orange Assessed.

Orange would like to indicate to users of the web portal that the device with label “Orange Assessed” has been identified and handled by Orange and therefore included in the IoT B2B catalogue.

  • Label "Orange Connected"

This label is associated to modules and devices tested by Orange in the laboratories for Connectivity and Energy consumption.

Devices that have been certified Orange Assessed can be included in the roadmap to be tested by Orange in the laboratories.

Orange tests network connectivity (radio performance, interoperability, etc.) and the energy consumption of the device or module.

The brand, name /model, hardware and firmware of the device or module is checked by Orange; the validation is done on a specific version of HW and FW only.

Orange would like to indicate to users of the web portal that the device with label “Orange Connected” has been checked and tested by Orange for connectivity and energy consumption and therefore included in the IoT B2B catalogue.

  • Label "Orange Approved"

This label is associated to devices which have been tested end-to-end by Orange in the laboratories.

For the Orange Approved label, devices are fully tested for connectivity, energy consumption, security, quality (labelling, packaging, CRS, WEEE, etc.), integration to Live Objects platform, GPS performances, functional tests, etc

This level of validation is usually reserved to devices who are commercialised by one of Orange business units as part of an Orange offer.

The brand, name /model, hardware and firmware of the device is checked by Orange; the validation is done on a specific version of HW and FW only.

Orange would like to indicate to users of the web portal that the device with label “Orange Approved” has been thoroughly checked and tested by Orange and therefore included in the IoT B2B catalogue.
